About Me

Hi there and welcome! I’m Kat and I created Tons of Goodness to help you learn simple ways to build a happier and healthier life. I am passionate about fitness, healthy eating, mindfulness, and enjoying the little things in life. I am grateful that I am able to write this blog and that you are here to read it!

Professionally, I am a nationally certified school psychologist and have spent over ten years working with preschool age children. My education and background are in psychology, education, and research. I love to research, read, and learn new things every day.  I entered the field of school psychology to support children’s ability to learn and succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. I recently left this career to spend more time with my family and to begin a career in writing, health, and photography. This was a long, scary, exciting process that I will make sure to talk about in a future post. I, of course, still have a strong interest in child development and mental health, so I hope to provide information for families through this blog as well.

In the area of food and nutrition, I completed the Health Coach Certification program through the Dr. Sears Wellness Institute in 2015. I have been interested in nutrition and exercise since college. However, I began researching health and nutrition intensely before having our daughter in 2013. I wanted to make sure that I was healthy for her and I wanted to make sure that I was providing her with the best nutrition for her development and wellness.

I personally follow a paleo or primal diet, but I am flexible and I don’t think that there is one way of eating that fits everyone. I do believe in helping people develop a way of eating based on non-processed, nourishing, real foods, in a way that works for them! You will find that most of the recipes I provide will be dairy free and gluten free. As I will discuss in future posts I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in 2014.  Hashimoto’s is a frustrating and sometimes debilitating autoimmune disorder in which antibodies directed against the thyroid gland lead to chronic inflammation.  I have many food sensitivities, but dairy and gluten are the biggest offenders.

In my free time, I love spending time with my family, hiking, photography, writing, cooking, and reading. I love trying new workouts and finding new ways to be active. I also love to travel and hope to do that more!

You can find me on Instagram and Pinterest. You can also reach me directly at [email protected] If you’d like to keep in touch, you can also subscribe to my e-newsletter to receive new posts and/or my weekly e-newsletter via email!

Most importantly, I want to thank you for taking the time to visit this site! It means the world to me and I wouldn’t be here without you.

Wishing you tons of goodness in your life,

Kat
