Living a passive life is like writing in passive voice. It’s less interesting. It’s not impactful or memorable. When you live passively, you simply go through the motions, take care of your responsibilities, and function on autopilot. There is no way to achieve personal growth with a passive mindset.

If you’re letting life happen to you without striving for change or betterment, you’re making a huge mistake. Life is a gift that is full of opportunity. Even if you think you’re stuck in a rut, there are ways you can improve your lifestyle and start living intentionally.

How to Start Living Intentionally

Revamp Your Routine

If your day-to-day is exactly the same for weeks, months, or even years, it can become dull and cumbersome. Changing up your routine will keep things interesting.

living intentionally through changing and scheduling your routine

Start getting up earlier to go the gym, or go to bed 30 minutes earlier every night. Schedule a block of self-care time for every day of the week. Cook for yourself more often. Try to curate a routine that will help you achieve one of your personal goals, like getting in shape or learning a new skill.

Even small changes to your daily routine can make a big difference in your perspective on life and the world around you.

Do More Things For Yourself

It’s kind to do favors for other people, but you shouldn’t let that get in the way of your own happiness and well-being. After all, this is your life, not theirs. It’s not selfish to put your own wants and needs first.

When is the last time you did something for yourself? If you can’t remember, you might be putting your self-care on the backburner. Think about one thing you really want to do, and just do it. Don’t let other people’s demands get in the way.

To truly live an intentional life, you have to live it the way you want to, regardless of what other people think. Remember that.

Change Your Attitude Toward Life

It might sound cliché when people say, “mindset is everything,” but it’s so true. Even if you have an amazing life, it won’t seem amazing with a negative mindset. Bury your feelings of resentment and start being grateful for what you have, even if you feel like you don’t have much.

Choose to see the potential in every day. Be kind to others and yourself. Mindset changes are more impactful than you probably realize.

living intentionally through journaling

Gratitude journaling is a great way to change your mindset. It doesn’t have to be complicated, and it doesn’t require fancy prompts. The simplest way to do it is to write down a few things you are grateful for every morning. As you do it over time, you will see how many blessings you have in your life. You will notice a gradual, yet powerful, shift in your mindset that will change your whole perspective.

Think Deeply About What You Want

Remember when you were little, and your parents and teachers asked you, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” You probably had an answer that filled you with life and made you excited for your future. Now, it’s time to start thinking about that again.

So, what do you really want out of your life? To live intentionally, you must work to fulfill your inner desires and achieve your dreams. Do what feels right, and let go of things that hold you back. Make every move purposeful.

Life is short, and you should make the most out of every day. Sometimes, it can be hard to know exactly what you want, and that’s OK. Life isn’t meant to be a straight sprint to the finish line. It’s a winding path full of adventure and new discoveries.

Living intentionally means always having a direction, even if that direction changes. As long as you want the best for yourself and constantly strive to improve, amazing things will come your way.

This is your life, and you are the star of your own show. Make it the best it can be!
